Richard Romano formerly served as a sergeant in the NYPD, where his responsibilities included supervision of undercover narcotics detectives. Also the brother of actor Ray Romano and a screenplay writer, Richard Romano is the creative force behind the film The Investigator.
The Investigator begins with a police sergeant’s accidental shooting of an unarmed man, which forces the officer into early retirement. He subsequently becomes a coach and teacher in high school. A surprising plot twist leads to the main action, a classroom mock trial about the crucifixion of Christ that emphasizes the importance of direct testimony of historical events.
The film, which won positive reviews in Variety and other publications, had a successful domestic box office reception. After appearing in theaters, The Investigator was released on DVD and made available in Walmart. Other media outlets have followed suit, including iTunes, Netflix, and Redbox. The film has been well received by Christian communities and is scheduled for release to international markets.
